Andy Scribilo

Bio

President Andy Scribilo has been with the organization since 2000. In his years at the Kenora Chamber, Andy has chaired many positions, giving him a strong understanding of the organization and its capacities. Andy takes pride in being the President of the Kenora Chamber as he hopes to help local businesses grow and prosper in our local economy. Andy is now retired after managing Bell Canada’s Northwestern Ontario region for 36 years. Andy spends his free time with family and friends while taking part in community initiatives by volunteering locally.

Steven Wolfe

Bio

Director Steven Wolfe is an entrepreneur, educator, and musician born and raised in our beautiful Kenora, Ontario. He has a strong passion to connect and inspire individuals through music, tech, and genuine conversation.

As a result of his work, he has a wealth of knowledge in the field of education, the private sector, and the events industry. He is the owner and operator of WOLFE Inc., which has four branches active in our region: WOLFE Event Production, WOLFE Installs, WOLFE Media, and WOLFE Distribution. All branches of his company embody what it means to provide a professional and personalized service to Northwestern Ontario and beyond.

With his passion for teaching, he has had the pleasure of teaching hundreds of students both in person and online over the past six years. He has also provided training to equip elementary school teachers with the mindset, confidence, and resources they need to consistently bring music into their classrooms.

He has always been a firm believer in walking the walk and not just talking the talk. As a result, he is responsible for several community initiatives, including The Piano Project and The Kenora Concert Series. He acknowledges the opportunities he has been able to create in Kenora and graciously gives his time and resources back to the community he loves.

As an active member of the Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce for several years, it is his pleasure to bring his background and experiences into the conversations we hold and the important work we do. He is honoured to be a part of the voice for businesses in Northwestern Ontario, embracing existing connections and meeting many new people along the way.

Tim Warkentin - 2nd Vice President

Tim Warkentin

Bio

2nd Vice President Timothy Warkentin works as an Investment Specialist with Cooperators in Kenora. He has over 20 years of financial services experience. He has a passion for helping clients prepare for life’s transitions through retirement and estate planning, education and disability savings, tax sheltering, and insurance needs. Tim helps people retire and stay retired with RRSPs, TFSAs, RRIFs, and insurance.

Tim’s family owned a fishing lodge on Lake of the Woods for 20 years and grew up guiding on the lake. He enjoys golfing, curling, and lake time. Kenora is home for Tim and giving back to this beautiful community is why he joined the Chamber of Commerce. Tim is looking forward to working with the local business community to make Kenora a wonderful place to live and work.

Alex Gamboa

Bio

Treasurer Alex Gamboa is one of two partners at the local accounting firm Gamboa & Holland LLP. He was born and raised in Kenora and is proud to bring a local service to the city. Through his work, he has discovered a passion for helping people and has been working in the accounting industry since 2016. He joined the chamber to offer his expertise and assist our community in the best way he can, serving as the chamber’s Treasurer.

He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario and serves on the Audit Committee for the Kenora Catholic District School Board.

He enjoys spending his free time with his wife and son.

Ron Malashewski

Bio

Director Ron Malashewski was born and raised in Kenora and has resided in Calgary, Montreal, and Winnipeg, before moving back to Kenora in 2004. He has been a member of the KDCC since 2007.

He is President of Cliff Lake Entrepreneur Advisors (formerly Cliff Lake Capital Limited), providing Corporate Consulting Services and entrepreneur coaching for start-up and early-stage companies across a diverse range of sectors, including natural resources, alternative energy, transportation and logistics, internet infrastructure, and industrial technology.

From 1980 until 1992, he held Senior Engineering positions with the City of Calgary Electric System, a major Canadian municipal electric utility. In 1992, he joined Richardson Greenshields of Canada and later BMO Nesbitt Burns in Calgary. In 1999, he formed Cliff Lake Capital.

In addition to ongoing corporate consulting activities, Ron is the Kenora Regional Consultant to the Northern Ontario Angels, the #1 Angel Organization in North America for Northern Ontario entrepreneurs (looking for growth capital) and Angel Investors (looking for investments).

He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (nonpracticing status), a Member of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy, and Petroleum, and a Member of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada.

He has held board positions with business and professional organizations, condominium and cottage owners’ associations, and sports/recreational organizations throughout his professional and business career.

He continues to work with the KDCC and the business community on their initiatives for business development and growth in the region.

Natasha Stoyakovich - Executive Director

Director Natasha Stoyakovich is the Project and Communications Manager at FSET Inc., an information technology and managed services provider that delivers progressive and forward-thinking solutions within the public and private sectors. A strategic leader recognized by the Northwestern Ontario Visionary Awards, she believes that the greatest chance to succeed is in strengthening what you naturally do best and doing more of it, whether that be as an individual or organization. As a multifaceted business-oriented professional, she is inspired by the future and what could be. Relocating from Southern Ontario to Kenora in 2018, she has become passionate about finding ways to connect and collaborate with the community she now calls home.

She is currently a Director on the Northwest Training and Adjustment Board (NTAB), and prior to joining the Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce, she volunteered as an Executive of The Young Professionals Network of Kenora, the Kenora Sustainability Advisory Committee, and as Treasurer on the Kenora Harbourtown BIZ. A self-directed individual, enthusiastic about business development, community improvement, and ongoing education, she capitalizes on every opportunity to learn and grow, and is currently working towards her Ec.D. designation and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. On a personal note, she enjoys spending time outdoors with family.

Aurora FitzGerald

Bio

Director Aurora FitzGerald is the newest Associate at Shewchuk Ormiston LLP, where she has been practicing law since her call in September of 2023. Aurora has been fortunate enough to be able to practice in many areas of law already and has enjoyed learning from her knowledgeable and experienced mentors.

Before beginning her undergraduate degree at Western, Aurora taught in Igloolik, NU., where she first developed a knack for drafting proposals for funding for the programs that she developed and initiated.  During law school, Aurora took specialized courses, including Elder Law, Environmental and Animal Law, and Advanced Advocacy. She was Co-Founder and President of the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law Animal Justice Club and Student Chair on the Environmental and Natural Resources Committee. She worked throughout her law degree as a research assistant and as a student-at-law at the Northwest Community legal Clinic.

Aurora is passionate about maintaining the integrity of our environment and wildlife; she spends her free time on the Lake, enjoying the natural beauty of the area. She loves that Kenora offers a great lifestyle balance – a vibrant, engaged business community surrounded by vast Northern Ontario wilderness – and looks forward to promoting that appeal by being a part of the Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce board.

Alex Evans

Bio

Alex is the manager for the Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce, having started in this position fall of 2023. He is the co-owner of Spirit Oak Tea Company with his wife Breanna, and has been a member of the chamber since buying the business in 2019. Alex was raised in Northwestern Ontario with a larger amount of time spent outdoors in the wilderness during his youth. After spending several years in Southern Ontario and then Saskatchewan he was very happy to come back to his roots when he moved to Kenora in 2016.
