Committees

Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce members are welcome to join the Chamber Board of Directors on the following Committees:

COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION
Membership Services / Membership Recruitment This Committee will ensure that appropriate communications flow between the Chamber Members, Prospective Members and the General Public, through Chamber Communications, Newsletters, Advertising, Member to Member Discount Programs, Ambassador Programs, Websites and Social Media. They will develop and implement effective Marketing, Mentoring and Membership programs to achieve Chamber retention and recruitment goals and objectives.
Education This Committee will work jointly with LOWBIC and the Northwest Business Centre to host relevant Workshops for Education and Professional Development. The Education Committee provides a liaison and dialogue with local schools and other training organizations. This Committee can partner with the Special Events and After Hour Mixers.
Policy & Procedures / By-law & Constitution This Committee is responsible for reviewing the Constitution and By-laws to ensure that any necessary changes are submitted before any General Meeting. The Committee is also responsible for reviewing Chamber Policies and Strategic Plans.
Special Events / After Hour Mixers This Committee is to provide and host Events, Mixers, Luncheons and Socials for our members as well as their families and staff. The content of any one event can be ranged from Business to Social. One of the goals for this committee is to gain awareness in the community and show our presence. Our goal is to host as many events during the year as possible.
Home and Leisure Show This Committee is responsible for hosting the Annual Home and Leisure Show. Tasks include booth setups and take downs, advertising, sponsors, door admissions, and more.
Annual General Meeting & Business Awards Banquet This Committee is responsible for preparing and presenting the year end Financials, as well as, the election of a New Board for new or returning Directors. Organizing the Awards Banquet will include a variety of tasks, such as, theme, nominations, judges, dinner, hosts, guest speaker and/or entertainment, advertising and more. (Held in February each year).
Government Affairs & Tendering This Committee is responsible for bringing forth Resolutions, staying in touch with government issues and concerns that affect business and its economy.

The Chamber lobbies governments on behalf of businesses at all levels, Civic, Provincial and Federal. We are also members of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Ontario Chamber of Commerce and Northwestern Ontario Associated Chamber of Commerce (NOACC). The Chamber also has a Board of Director sitting on the Habourtown Biz and Tourism Committees.
