Cultivating Connections at July Lunch n’ Learn

On July 18, 2023, business professionals and owners gathered for the first installment of the KDCC’s reinvigorated Lunch n’ Learns.

The one-hour event offered presenters a chance to explain an aspect of their business or profession while allowing listeners to discover new opportunities and establish or grow connections.

Held in the boardroom of the 101 Park Street office complex, the Lunch n’ Learn was anchored by 10-minute presentations from representatives of the Business Development Bank of Canada, Co-operators, Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation, and Alzheimer’s Society.

Carmela Bergagnini, senior account manager at the BDC, touched on various services offered by the bank and highlighted the Canada Digital Adoption Program, a Government of Canada initiative that helps small and medium-sized enterprises adopt digital technologies.

Timothy Warkentin, mutual fund investment specialist at Co-operators Financial Investment Services Inc., spoke to the importance of managing risk and establishing succession plans in small businesses.

Jennifer Findlay of the NOHFC cited the value of investing in the north and detailed the services and funding available to local businesses.

Manveer Kaur, office and event coordinator at the Alzheimer’s Society, brought awareness to Finding Your Way, an online resource that helps reduce the risk of people with dementia becoming lost by preparing them, their families, and their communities.

The presentations were accompanied by delicious lunch from The Vault Social House, a new chamber member.

New members Eric and Al Sinclair of Sinky’s Auto kicked off their engagement with the chamber by attending the event.

The next Lunch n’ Learn will be held on August 15, 2023. The KDCC is happy to accommodate new attendees, space permitting. If you would like to present or want to simply listen, please contact the chamber.
