FREE – Small Business Rapid Test Kits

The Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce and the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Ontario and Federal governments, have launched the Covid-19 Rapid Screening Initiative. Through this initiative, the KDCC will roll out free rapid tests for small and medium-sized businesses in the Kenora district.

  • These kits are free and only available to businesses with under 150 employees.  Kits are only to be used for workplace screening of employees and must not be used for client testing or distribution.

The Kenora Chamber is completely out of kits at this time. We are expecting a shipment early February 2022.

The province is experiencing a high demand for rapid antigen tests. We appreciate your patience.

The goal of this program is to identify asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 in the workplace that may otherwise be missed, helping to curb the spread in the workplace, at home, and around the community.

Public health and the health of our economy are interdependent. That is why the Kenora Chamber is onboard to distribute rapid testing kits to small and medium-sized businesses in our area. We hope that through this initiative, we will be able to curb the spread and reopen our local economy safely.

Why do this? The latest information from Health Canada suggests that up to 1/3 of people carrying the virus are asymptomatic (i.e. not showing any symptoms of illness)! Over 50% of known cases were transmitted by an asymptomatic carrier. This makes it incredibly important to find asymptomatic carriers in order to combat the spread.

A COVID-19 screening test can be performed anywhere (i.e. at your workplace!) and does not require shipping a specimen to a lab for processing. It takes 15 minutes to see the results. Frequent testing (twice a week) increases the chances of early identification of cases.

The COVID-19 Rapid Screening Initiative will provide free rapid antigen testing kits for employees of small and medium-sized businesses. Businesses (including non-chamber members) with 150 or less are welcome to participate in this program.

DISCLAIMER: Screening kits are an added measure only, and all other PPE and distancing protocols must continue to be followed regardless of screening.
