KDCC PRESIDENT'S
MESSAGE

I
am honoured to lead the Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce into 2011- 2012. I look forward to the
challenges of this position as well as meeting as many members as possible. I am continually amazed at
the dedication of Chamber members and the tireless hours they put in to grow our local businesses and
city. We have many active committees and the volunteer work, commitment and ideas generated by our
volunteers leads to new and exciting initiatives as seen with the venue we had to start 2011.
As we
enter the Chamber year of 2011-2012, there will be a direct focus on being proactive and not reactive in the
way we do business. We need to assert ourselves to the opportunities that lie ahead. We will only look back to
work on the challenges we faced a year ago compared to the huge opportunities that we will uncover for the
years to come. With the many capital projects going on in our community and the major future developments that
are on the horizon, Kenora is not only destined to weather the challenges but is positioned to become even
stronger with regards to continued business growth and development.
We have
much to be proud of in years that have passed. Any success, however, is the result not of one person's efforts,
but the efforts of many people working together towards a common vision. During this year, our vision is to
continue to bring value to our members and be the voice of business for the Kenora and District Chamber of
Commerce; to ensure your voice is heard and acted upon .This is an exciting time to be a part of the Kenora
and District Chamber of Commerce As the voice of the Kenora business community, the Chamber seeks to enhance a
strong business climate; we are committed to advancing existing business and attracting new opportunities while
influencing public policies. We have a dedicated and focused Board of Directors this year that will lead
committee groups on our advocacy efforts with participation across the three political landscapes of Municipal,
Provincial and Federal Governments on issues that affect you and the business community. We encourage all our
members to take part by volunteering, attending our events and to allow your voice to be heard on the issues
that affect your business.
This next year I hope to encourage all of our members to get involved and stand up and support your fellow
members. I would like the word to spread as to what the Chamber is
all about and what the Chamber can do for your business. This kind
of support from every member would only help the local business community and we can be apart of the growth
that is happening around us. Let’s get excited about this City’s
growth and work together to make it better.
I would
like to welcome back all our returning board members for another busy year. I also welcome our newest board
members to our award winning team, and look forward to working closely with each of you during the course of
the year.
While
we have a challenging and exciting year ahead of us, I’m excited to be entering the role as Chamber President
for the 2011-2012 year. If you are currently involved with the Chamber, I look forward to working with you. If
your not currently a member or involved, I encourage you to join today. The payoff and rewards are well worth
the effort. The Kenora Chamber of Commerce, we are “the voice for business.
